This was a part of Uruk that had fallen into decay but a many of us have been bringing it back to life. Urban renewal happening.

I am struggling to speak your language but you -how do you say- will see the columns (above on the right)? There are stairs up to the columnade complete with trees, gardens, hot baths & shade-cloths. The dining room is in the small building to the right, up top. You are welcome to come drink some Kash!

*I am working on remodeling the 1st floor below to accommodate overnight guests. Until then you’ll sleep with the camels & horses… or get your drunk ass hauled elsewhere by my staff with your lodging fees (there) to remain on your tab (here) until when (not if) you return.

*Please do not wear clothing in the hot tubs, they are clogging the circulatory pipes when (often) forgotten. Thanks in advance!

      Happy Birthday AHF !

And I wish you more happy returns, the roof top is the perfect place for a monumental celebration, perhaps dedicated to your god Utu ?

Ah! An amphora of red wine, that’s a wonderful gift, some-one has been very thoughtful, and Happy Birthday to you Ipskakt, please accept these two boji stones, the rough sided one is male and the smooth surface one is female.

They will make the energy of the gods and goddesses pulsate through your body as they have strange properties when placed together.

      Happy Birthday AHF:

I do like roof top celebrations, just been walking by the river Euphrates, when the sweet aroma of grilled lamb filled my senses and made my mouth water, I couldn’t see what was going on, even from my high advantage point of the city wall.

Walking passed the Sumerian traders in the market place near the Inanna Temple, Uruk’s patron goddess. I purchased some gifts for the host, an elaborately painted Warka Vase dedicated to Mes-Kiag-Gasha, seated in the House of Heaven, and an ancient tablet from the land of Cush.

Happy Birthday Ipskakt, you look not a day over twenty-two summers, have a great weekend, I will pop back later as I am lurky-free, it’s not contagious, I can assure you.

Splutter – splutter – false cough.

Hi Dervla! Bring it all!! They drink Kash here (has alcohol) and Ippy tends to serve lamb mostly as there is not a good source for beef around here currently.

Happy Birthday AHF, and I like the idea of making it Ipskakt’s birthday too, but I need some guidance to what a party would consist of in the City of Uruk, should I bring Angus steaks to grill ? Or would that be taboo against your customs and attitudes ?

Do you drink alcohol ? Or do your customs prevent the use of hops and grapes from the vine ? If that is the case I could bring an amphora of mead !

Wishing you all a great weekend, I will return to help. Would you like me create a virtual birthday cake with two candles ? I usually soak the fruit in Brandy, but I could look for some non-alcoholic substitute.

      Happy Birthday Ipskakt & AHF.

Timman Bagilla, growing up in County Cork, this dish was made every Friday and was placed upon the table by my mother, so delicious that not one grain of rice was left on our hungry Irish plates.

Timman Bagilla is an Iraqi name, a dish with basmati rice, broad beans and the herb dill, it’s a dish that’s cooked in Iraq to this day, but there are heavy influences of Persian cuisine.

Broad beans are just amazing at this time of year and the combination with the dill give this dish a colourful and vibrant lift, it’s great to eat with the meat of your choice, as either an accompaniment or served cold as a refreshing salad.

My Irish mother use to add plain yoghurt and it’s a great dish for those Novembers nights with a cooling breeze after the days sun. This recipe will serve six people.

The ingredients are 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil, 500g of basmati rice, 550ml chicken stock, 1kg broad beans left in their pods, 40g freshly chopped dill, 1 onion finely diced, 1 garlic clove.

The method is to wash the rice and let in soak for 30 minutes, remove the broad beans from their pods, and blanch for 1 minute in boiling salted water, then place them in cold water and set to one side.

In a saucepan, heat the sunflower oil and sweat the diced onion for 5 minutes, after that, add salt, garlic, 30g of chopped dill, plus 1 tablespoon of dried dill and fry for another minute.

Add your rice and chicken stock into the saucepan, season generously with salt and pepper, stir gently and place on a moderate heat and cover the saucepan with a lid, leave for 10 minutes so the chicken stock is nearly absorbed, let the ingredients simmer on a very low heat for 20 minutes, then add the broad beans just before serving.

Your camel will be just fine! Here, I’ll go check on it. Oh my!! That’s weird, your camel’s tail is on fire! Wait, looks like my neighbor put it out, looks ok now. The camel seems to be ok. Want another drink while you wait for your food? I can’t imagine how your camel’s tail caught fire, so strange!

Yeah…it is pretty run down here. I hope my camel is safe  parked outside!

This is one of my favorite cities, home of Gilgamesh, best friend of my Uncle Enkidu.

I will try the lamb and a big bowl of kash, maybe a dip in the hot tub later 🙂

Ooopsie! Sorry miss, I decided to take a dip since no-one was coming-in this early. What’ll you have? You look like a lady who would love my Kash recipe! You should try some lamb on flatbread served with a thick cream seasoned with leeks. I’ll put some pomegranate and figs on the side, if you like. Welcome to the finest place in Uruk! Granted, this city has gone to shit… since there is no government anymore. There are a few of us coming back, this part of the city is coming back to life. Within the ruined city walls are actually people w/ cattle, lamb, fowl, people farming in open-spaces & an abundance of fish in the river again.

WOW! Look at this little nugget in the sand!
It’s a good thing this place is far enough away from the Kashbowl that it won’t take away any customers.
I guess I’ll go in and try the place out. Hello! I could go for a bowl of kash.
I think I’ll head towards the back to see if there are any naked people in the hot tub
